Benefits of Blogging by Linda Yollis and Class

My good friend in Los Angeles, Linda Yollis, recently created this excellent video with her second and third grade class about the benefits of blogging.

This video may give you more of an insight into what you could get out of blogging with your students, or you might like to share it with your staff.

It has been my pleasure to discover the benefits of blogging alongside Linda since we both began our class blogs in 2008.

If you’d like to learn more about the benefits of educational blogging, check out the post I wrote last month.

  1. Kathleen and Linda – this is precious! I love hearing the perspective from both teacher and students. What responsible, switched on little learners these guys are. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Hello Mrs. Moris!

My name is Callie Amond and I’m a Elementary Education major in EDM310 at the University of South Alabama and every week our professor assigns us a different teacher’s blog site to follow! It seems that everywhere I turn there are more and more teachers that use blogging in their classroom! I couldn’t agree more that blogging is an excellent and creative way to spark students imagination and education. I definitely plan on incorporating blog assignments into my lesson plans once I become a teacher! Thank you for sharing that adorable video from Lidia Yollis.

    • Hi Callie,

Thanks for dropping by. I’m pleased to hear you are interested in blogging with your students when you graduate!

      Good luck with your studies,
      Kathleen Morris

  3. Hi Kathleen,
Thank you for posting Linda Yollis’s video. It explained the benefits of blogging in such a personal and easy to understand way. I am slowly piecing together the information I need to take the plunge and this has brought me a BIG step closer.
    Getting excited about the potential.

    • Hi Lisa,

I’m so pleased to hear you’re excited about the potential of blogging. It’s a lot of work to have a well maintained program but the benefits are definitely worth it!

      Good luck,

  4. Wow, what a fabulous job you’ve done sharing with the world what a benefit blogging can be for youngsters.
I teach first grade and recently started an Eagle Blog for commenting on the Eagle’s Nest we have watching via an Eagle Cam in Platteville, Colorado. This is a classroom blog. Since it is my first blog, I thought i would set up with my students first to learn all the ins and outs of blogging. I have learned a lot and the children have really enjoyed commenting on each other’s posts.
I plan to share this video with my fellow teachers at our Elem. School in Georgia. Thanks so much, you all did a fabulous job sharing blogging info.

    • Hi Melinda,

It’s fabulous that you’re learning about blogging together with your students. I’m sure they’re loving it and will be reaping many of the rewards. Students do seem to love the interaction that a blog can provide, both in and out of the classroom.

I hope your fellow teachers enjoy the video too!
